Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) founder T.Velmurugan
has welcomed the Tamil Nadu government’s move to release seven persons
in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
In a
statement released here, Mr. Velmurugan noted that Chief Minister
Jayalalithaa made an announcement in the State Assembly on Wednesday
that she would make a request to the Centre to release Santhan, Murugan
and Perarivalan, besides Nalini, Ravichandran and Robert Pius.
Mr
Velmurugan said that four companions of slain forest brigand Veerappan
were languishing in the Karnataka prison even after their death sentence
was commuted to life imprisonment long ago. He appealed to Ms
Jayalalithaa to take up the issue with her Karnataka counterpart and
secure their release
